Our story
Straight Talk, Fair Prices
We are First Choice Auto Repair & Brakes, a family-run shop on Martin Luther King Jr Way in Oakland led by Prab and Jeet. Customers come to us for brakes, AC work, starters, fuel pumps, oil changes and everyday repairs, and they keep coming back because we tell them exactly what their car needs and why.
We show you the old parts we pull out and walk you through the before and after, so you are never just taking our word for it. No inflated quotes, no talking down to anyone, and no pressure to fix more than what is actually wrong.
Many of our customers have been with us for years, calling us the moment a warning light comes on because they know we will pick up, talk them through it, and tell them honestly whether it can wait or needs to come in right away.
- Family-owned and operated
- Transparent, no-pressure pricing
- Trusted by customers for over 10 years
- Full-service repair and maintenance
What customers say
“Been taking my Honda Fit here for the past couple of years. They have incredible prices, amazing customer service, and do a great job on repairing your car! Over the past few years, I've gotten new AC, new starter and new fuel pump etc. Also great for an oil change. They care about their customers, are honest, and always do a great job. Highly recommend!”
“I cannot think of a single time when Prab has not said "Bring it right over" or has counseled me over the phone over what something like a warning light means, telling me what to do, etc. It is great to have a mechanic I can trust.”
“Prad and Jeet were not only honest, but they truly went above and beyond to address what my vehicle needed. Their pricing is fair, and they saved me thousands of dollars. Jeet took the time to walk me through everything, showing me the before and after, as well as the old parts that were removed.”
